In an environment where we all hold the truths of science with such high regard, what happens when the scientists are wrong?
Are we doomed to follow them to the death?
What about a snake oil salesman who dons the academic garb of the scientist? How can we spot him if we are blinded in our worship of science?
What rationale can be used by an irrational believer in science, falsely so-called? If the name "science" immediately justifies the idea or the title “scientist” justifies the message presented, how can we examine the evidence for ourselves?
Must we submit to the ones who bear the credentials and not question them? What are the criteria for questioning them? Is it ever permissible?
We’re each flawed creatures and our biases are often blind to us and blind us to alternatives so we might not always have a clear looking glass through which we examine the science. But aren’t scientists flawed humans as well?
How critical of ourselves are we willing to be? and how critical of the “experts” should we really be?
We must ensure that our intentions are pure but always be skeptical, yet open to concession, toward the experts.
