The most unbearable people I have ever know are the type to demand your respect.
You might know them as the person who expects an apology for most things and everything else is on the edge of causing offense as well.
Insufferable, I tell you. Painful to even think about. Undoubtedly the worst.
Respect from others is merely a luxury if you have self-respect.
If you have self-respect, you don’t take yourself as seriously, and you don’t demand the people around you to kiss the ring of your holiness.
The self-righteous are never self-respecting and often self-loathing.
The self-respecter, however, will not walk on the eggshells of the self-righteous.
Do something worthwhile, be kind, and be humble. In this way, you will earn self-respect.
“If you have earned your self-respect, respect by others is a luxury; if you haven’t, respect by others is a necessity.”
