Getting people to notice: how I keep getting it wrong

1. Oversharing:

I get too caught up in thinking I need to share all the details. People don’t require you to spoonfeed them. Give the framework, and the gist and people can fill in the rest.

The info you fill in yourself is more memorable. People resist having anything forced on them.

2. No emphasis:

We don’t care that much for what other people say. We remember maybe 10% of what people tell us.

You and I have control of our work and what we emphasize. Make 10-20% of what you do unique and memorable, but not all of it.

If it’s all special, none of it is unique, and none of it carries emphasis.

Attention “hooks” need to be created by you in your content or work if you want people to remember it. If you place a valley next to a peak, the peak seems higher.

Emphasis is key. Also, leave out some info and let the people fill in the BL _ _ KS.
