The chase for perfection, to me, means both understanding that you will never be perfect, but also always being a little better tomorrow.
If you’re 0.01% better tomorrow than you were today and you keep doing that all year you’ll be about 35% better in one year than you are today.
You’ll have some days where you have big gains, too, so patiently working and being content with tiny gains sets you up for bigger gains in the future.
Opportunity always knocks, but it must find you working. Contentment with a 1% gain every day keeps you from getting discouraged and keeps you working. Then opportunity strikes. Never stop.
After a five-month winter hibernation, I took my bike out on the road again today. I was slow and it was painful. I was slow today, but I’ll be better tomorrow and the process will repeat.
