It’s an obsession. I want to be right. In my late teens and early twenties, just feeling like I was right was enough, but throughout my twenties, I realized that I should want to be right because I’ve taken the correct position, not found a way to bludgeon my opponent.
Anyway, there is a big problem with an obsession with always being right. It has compromised my ability to take risks and be more creative. After all, for every great idea you have, there are a few dozen failures in there.
To avoid the failures and always appear right means I don’t get the few successes that come with being wrong.
That’s what is wrong with being right.
