A small rodent must live his life and impregnate female rodents to make more baby rodents. The other small rodent spends her life being impregnated by male rodents and feeding/caring for her young.
This is the great duty the small rodent has to his rodent “society”, if you will. He never has to think long and hard about his societal duties, he just makes/takes care of his family.
The large, ambiguous duty of being a “good rodent” becomes specific and attainable when it gets broken down to the impregnate females/raise the young roles that the male/female rodent play.
This principle of smaller and more specific leading to the greater more ambiguous goal stands true across the board.
Break down your lofty goals into small tasks and pick them off. When you work on something specific you find direction and motivation and also, expectations become crystal clear.
All you will get from ambiguity is a thousand failures. Small and specific is productive and easy.
