I took the road less traveled

I saw an email that I got from somebody the other day and among several kind things they had to say they mentioned that my blog posts read like somebody who was lost and was seeking his way by encouraging others.

One of my concerns, when I write about some of the things I write about, is that I’ll come across as this huckster self-improvement guru-wannabe. The only self-improvement I’m concerned with when I write is my self-improvement.

When I write here I am doing one of a few things:

  1. Fleshing out ideas and concepts I’ve been things about.

  2. Writing good ideas as a way to further “set” them in my mind and retain the info.

  3. Explore the idea of writing as well as work on getting more comfortable doing it.

  4. Fulfilling my daily self-imposed obligation to write.

Hopefully, I don’t look back with horror on my method of writing, my tone, or the content itself as the years go by. Knowing myself, I’ll be cringing at this stuff. But right now, it’s good for me and I enjoy it so future-me can cringe all he wants.

As a side note, I am “lost”, but only in the way that any creative-minded person should be. I’m lost in the same way an explorer is lost. With eyes wide open in wonder at all the exciting new connections to be made, businesses to be built, and people to be met. It’s a good thing.
