That low motivation kind of work

We all have those days where it’s 2 pm before we know it. Where did the day go? More importantly, why don’t I feel like doing anything today?

It’s that low motivation monster and it’s like a lizard crawling down your neck sucking the life out of you. What can you do about it?

I’ve created the low motivation timed tasks to-do list for days like this. Why let the whole day go to waste when you could salvage some of it and get some things done.

This low motivation list is broken up into 10-minute and 40-minute “level” tasks.

It’s also broken up into things I can do when I’m extra NOT motivated (or being undisciplined and lazy, sluggish, etc…) Here are some examples:

10 minutes (low motivation):

  • practice guitar

  • empty office trash

  • clean office windows

  • re-organize desk

  • clean the office for ten minutes

  • play a game of chess

  • review video analytics

  • + more

10 minutes (semi-motivated)

  • review long and short term business goals

  • create content for social media

  • make my bed (when home)

  • sweep kitchen and dining room (when home)

  • move laundry (when home)

  • vacuum or wipe car and dashboard

  • + more

The idea is that tasks I enjoy more go on the lower motivation list and having a list at all is something I can immediately reference and decide that for the next ten minutes I’ll dedicate myself to THIS task.

The same goes for the 40-minute tasks, there is just that longer time commitment.
