I sometimes wonder how much good advice I’ve turned away because I didn’t like the person giving me the advice.
Too often we see something happen and make an immediate judgment call. In that split second, we have formed our opinions of everyone involved in the thing we saw happen.
I’ve noticed when I do this (which is often) that it’s almost like I am unable to suspend judgment. I need to form that option as fast as possible. Probably because that way it can be as damaging as possible.
One of the big problems with this prejudice we inflict upon ourselves in these situations is that it’s almost impossible to escape that bias we have for or against the people involved.
How often have you been told something by somebody whom you don’t like and that has colored what they’re telling you?
