You see how people cope when they must by altering their perspective.
Over the past few days, I’ve heard a lot about how my grandmother is “in a better place” or that “her suffering is over” or that “she lived so long and had a full life” and so on.
I hope all of that is true. It’s difficult for me to alter perspective away from what I view as the reality of the situation: Loved ones never live long enough to those who love them.
That’s not the point here, though.
It’s interesting to see that we all seem to have this ability to shift perspective when we’re pressed and there is no way out and no excuses to be made.
We can use perspective as a useful tool in non-tragic situations as well.
What would happen if we reframed every threat as a challenge or an opportunity to get better?
How much happier would we be if catastrophes at work were transformed into opportunities to make our business better and more optimized?
